CIO's Office Launches UFIT News Channel

January 17, 2012: Vice President and CIO Elias G. Eldayrie today announced the launch of UFIT News, a journalistic-style approach to IT-related news and happenings on the UF campus. UFIT News is available on Mobile devices as well as in full-screen view.

Groundbreaking for New Data Center

November 29, 2011: This afternoon UF President Bernie Machen, along with VP & CIO Elias G. Eldayrie, Gainesville Mayor Craig Lowe, and other local dignitaries broke ground for the East Campus Data Center. The new 15,000-square-foot Data Center, scheduled for completion in November, 2012, will house a second site for Enterprise Systems as well as other UFIT and UF departments.

Manager, Data Services Hired

November 22, 2011: Beatriz Fernandez, Director, Systems & Programming, announced the hiring of Bradley Spatz as the inaugural Manager, Data Services. Data Services is the group focused on data as an asset of the university. The Data Services group will design and develop solutions for data warehousing, reporting, analytics, dashboards, and scorecards. The group will also lead the efforts to develop a master data management strategy for the university.

Brad brings more than 15 years of experience in IT management and broadband networking in the private, academic, and research sectors to this new position. Overseeing business intelligence (BI) and data services, Brad will initially focus on working with the BI and Enterprise Reporting (ER) developers and analysts to understand workload and resource management. Brad will work to refine the BI development lifecycle and project delivery standards. The goal is to further develop this group to understand, anticipate, design, and implement enterprise-level strategic projects that achieve organizational business goals.

A 1996 Gator grad (Bachelor of Science in computer engineering), Brad's first day with Enterprise Systems is December 5, 2011.
